Ignite Art Therapies
Rotary celebrates the work of Australian Rotary Health each October, and in particular their determination to improve research and therapies in Mental Health, by participating in their ARH's annual Hat Day.
EXCITING times this year as we welcome Bel to present a very special session where we will each get creative and MAKE our own hats to express our inner-selves ... YES this is going to be a crafty Rotary Meeting and a heap of fun.
Bel specialises in working with people to use Creative Arts as a means to relieve stress; open up to problems; find their own solutions to improve their futures. An inspiring lady who we are sure will share an exciting concept with us ... as participants in a rather unofficial setting!
ARRIVE EARLY - we're kicking off 15 minutes earlier than normal to give ourselves a bit more time.
A bit about Bel ...
"After growing up in country South Australia and hitting the ‘big smoke’ of Adelaide, I was lead on a path to be a leading art therapist and creative facilitator and am very passionate about creating workshops and individual sessions that are self reflective, inspire and motivate.
I often find myself having people saying things that they don’t normally share with others – and that’s just at barbecues!
Drawing on my own experiences of adversity, I am very passionate about you expressing what is really going on through creative experiential explorations rather than the clichéd ‘how does that make you feel’ statements. I truly believe that we all need a space to be real – and you will notice this about me, no masks here!
For over 15 years I have worked extensively with youth, people living with cancer, youth at risk, children and adults and is more recently the Art therapist at Paediatric Palliative Care at Womens and Children Hospital as well as being the director of Ignite Art therapies.
Through my work I have developed an invaluable insight into vicarious trauma, burnout and self care and am passionate about organizations’ empowering and supporting their employees to be the best they can be as that makes for a positive, happy, productive environment.
My dream is that we all have a space to explore our lives, that we only carry the things that serve us and we find ways to break through the barriers to success, abundance, confidence, freedom and become the person (or group of people) that we want to be.
Having studied a bachelor of Communications, Masters in Counselling and diplomas in Transpersonal Counselling and Art Therapy it is safe to a say that I am very interested in people, their stories and how they impact life. My experience is the real deal and love to take an interest in the individual and adopt a flexible approach rather than boxing people into a genre or using cliches of how life ‘should’ be.
I am also a movie buff, love live theatre, music and playing board games, I am totally addicted to Feel Good Iced Coffee and take great joy in jumping in a float tank to rejuvenate."
