Delivering Hay to South Australian Farmers in Crisis
Event Description:
Since February 2025, Rotary's network has been transporting Hay from Victoria's Gippsland region and southern Western Australia to South Australia to assist farms in ALL regions of South Australia afflicted by the drought ravaging our State.
Previously, the Government of South Australia's Drought Relief Fund assisted us to cover the cost of Transport, but unfortunately no longer.
We believe there is widespread misunderstanding that our 3 Year Drought is over. It is not.
The photo on this page, is from a Farm in Taldra, 20 minutes from Loxton, in South Australia's Riverland. Across the whole of 2025, they received 85mm of Rain. To put that in perspective, Adelaide on average gets 500mm.
This story is common across MANY regions of South Australia, from the Eyre Peninsual - to the Mid-North - Murraylands - all the way down to the South East. Rotary has supported farming families throughout the State, and we continue to do so.
We responsibly source high quality hay.
We responsibly deliver it direct to Farm Gate (knowing many farmers just don't have the capacity to transport it from depots far away)
We responsibly deliver much more than 1 Bale!. We consider the animals to be fed and the number of animals on the farm.
The food we take for granted in our Supermarkets orginates from these farms. We are at a critical point in history, needing to future proof our local South Australian farming communities.
You can help Rotary simply by Donating to our Fodder for Farms project with our many thanks.
